High-school teams from across Wisconsin can compete in a range of marine literacy competitive events at the Lake Sturgeon Bowl. Form your team (of five) for the annual February event. The questions focus on various subjects, including hard sciences like chemistry, social sciences like history, geography and ocean-related technology, such as sonar.

The Wisconsin competition is held in Milwaukee on a Saturday.

For four years running, Wisconsin teams have won the national competition, known as the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. In 2013, the national finals made their very first appearance in a Great Lakes state, on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee.

Sea Grant provides funding and staffing support for the state qualifying event.
