Color: The Killdeer features a brown head with a white “eyebrow,” a white face patch above the bill, and a black forehead band above this white patch. The underparts are white, with two conspicuous black bands across the chest. In flight, the Killdeer shows an orange rump and upper tail, a white wingstripe and white-tipped outer feathers. The sexes are colored alike.
