Ladwig Returns to Sea Grant

We are pleased to announce that Jill D. Ladwig, director of communications at Hawaii Sea Grant from 1991–1996, is the new science editor and writer at UW Sea Grant and the Aquatic Sciences Center (ASC).

Ladwig returns wiser and more experienced. Since leaving Hawaii, she has held three senior writing and marketing positions for a Fortune 100 company, worked as a freelance reporter and written and produced diverse print and Web materials.

“Jill’s wide-ranging experience in writing, editing and marketing is a distinct asset to our communications efforts,” said Mary Lou Reeb, ASC assistant director for Administration and Information. “It’s a coup for us to reclaim her talents for Sea Grant and the ASC.”

Ladwig earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northwestern University and produced videos at UW-Madison before moving to Hawaii.

After Hawaii, Ladwig worked as the senior copywriter at Ingram Micro, a $22 billion, worldwide distributor of high-tech products based in Santa Ana, Calif. There, she wrote annual reports, letters to shareholders, and executive by-lined articles for industry newspapers and magazines.

Ladwig was soon promoted to corporate brand strategist. In that position, she interviewed hundreds of manufacturers, customers and executives around the world, integrated her findings with market research, and developed a distinguishing value statement for the company.

Ladwig directed communications at the University of California-Irvine engineering school from 1999 to 2001. There, she coordinated media relations, wrote and edited brochures and newsletters, and lead a redesign of the school’s Web site.

Please join us in welcoming Jill to the Aquatic Sciences Center.
