A typical Sea Grant project runs for two or three years. Within
that project period are distinct budget periods (usually one year
in duration) that are indicated on your budget page.
A Sea Grant budget details funds by budget category for the budget
period only, not for the entire project. No expenditures may be
incurred on a particular budget before the starting date or after
the ending date of the budget period.
Any unspent funds from one budget period are not automatically
rolled forward into the next budget period. Any such "carry-over"
must be requested in writing prior to the end of the budget period
they were originally budgeted in. Such requests must detail the
need for the funds in the subsequent budget period and why the
funds were not utilized during the budget period they were intended
for.
