What is JASON?
The JASON Project is an international, multidisciplinary program that sparks the imagination and enhances the classroom experience for teachers and their students. It is designed to inspire a lifelong passion to pursue learning in science, math and technology through exploration and discovery by bringing adventure and the thrill of discovery into the classroom, exploring the following questions:
- What are nature's dynamic systems?
- How do these systems affect life?
- What technologies do we use to study these systems and why?
Designed for students in grades 4-9, the JASON experience integrates a yearlong expedition featuring a national research team led by Dr. Robert Ballard of RMS Titanic discovery fame. It includes: a live satellite broadcast from the expedition site; an award-winning National Science Teachers Association-endorsed printed curriculum; video supplements; a highly interactive Web site www.jasonproject.org (this link opens a small new browser window); and professional development and support for teachers.
