About Wisconsin Sea Grant Research As microcosms of the world's oceans, the Great Lakes serve as natural laboratories for studying and learning about how aquatic science systems work. Through its research and outreach projects, UW Sea Grant links the scientist's laboratory to the world at large. Headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the UW Sea Grant Institute is part of a national network of 30 university-based programs funded by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.
