Project Overview<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

In 2018, the Wisconsin Sea Grant convened an extensive engagement process to identify how we could support longstanding efforts to sustain Manoomin in the Great Lakes region and share information about the cultural and spiritual significance of Manoomin, understanding that Manoomin is sacred and central to enduring cultural practices and ceremonies. We established and continue to foster relationships with Native American Nations, research and government institutions, NOAA affiliate and Sea Grant Programs, and others throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan who are actively engaged in efforts to increase awareness of Manoomin, its cultural significance, as well as its ecological function and importance. Through this collaborative effort, we learn of the challenges that impact Manoomin and how to support efforts to mitigate these challenges through education and outreach.<\/span><\/p>
