Only days remain until the Lake Superior Fish Classic, when the historic Union Depot in Duluth, Minn., will open its doors to professional chefs and judges, fish connoisseurs and 350 pounds of Lake Superior herring and whitefish.
Tickets are sold out for this professional chef cook-off and tasting event hosted by the Wisconsin and Minnesota Sea Grant programs on Friday, October 4 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., but non-event goers can create their own taste of Lake Superior when the winning chef’s recipe is shared afterwards. Chefs from Minnesota and Wisconsin will compete for $1,000 for first place and $750 for runner-up. The public will vote for the People’s Choice winner, who will receive $500.
This tribute to the people who manage, harvest, sell, study and prepare Lake Superior fish is sponsored by Bodin Fisheries in Bayfield, Wis.; Dockside Fish Market in Grand Marais, Minn.; the Duluth Seaway Port Authority; Lake Superior Magazine; and Minnesota Power.
